The right wine for your meal

A lot of love and preparation time often goes into a menu. For wine lovers, a harmonious wine accompaniment is a matter of course. If you are still looking for the perfect wine accompaniment, we can certainly help you here: Portfolio Manager Hans Martin Gesellmann shares his wine recommendations with you!

 Let us whet your appetite!

Fondue

The word “fondue” translates to “melted”. It originally referred to a dish made from melted cheese. Nowadays, “fondue” is used to describe anything where bite-sized pieces of food are dipped in warm liquid. Cheese fondue, fat fondue or scalded fondue are popular. If you want to get fancy, you can also make a wine fondue and cook your food in boiling wine.

2021 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc von Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte

“Charming fresh bouquet, white currants, fresh grated orange peel, honeydew melon, delicate toast. Good density, juicy, fine grip, elegant acidity, delicate white fruit, tangerine, delicate star fruit on the finish, good length. The balance of smoothness and freshness makes it a suitable companion for various fondues.”

Goose

We are probably most familiar with the St. Martin's goose, which is eaten on November 11th for Martini. But this wine certainly goes well with all geese that are prepared in a similar way.

2021 Barbera d'Asti DOC La Crena von Vietti

“Seductive, dense bouquet, roasted herbs, heart cherries, blackberries, delicate cocoa. Good density, juicy, finely astringent, good core, elegant acidity, dense, delicate red to black berry fruit, wild berries, raspberries, light chocolate, delicate cinnamon on the finish, good length. With its dense, powerful style, this sensational Barbera goes perfectly with goose!”

Carp

Fish is traditionally served on Fridays or fasting days, a custom that has survived from the past. Of course, fish dishes are also suitable for light cuisine or for a Mediterranean vibe. Depending on how you prepare your fish, you may prefer white, red or both as an accompaniment. Hans Martin Gesellmann has therefore selected two suitable wines for you.

2021 Hudson Chardonnay von Hudson Vineyards
