DuMol Winery

DuMol is one of the leading wineries for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in California. Winemaker Andy Smith first worked as a consultant and soon became a partner, constantly developing the style.
For Pinot Noir, they work exclusively with their own vineyards or long-term leased vineyards because it is not so easy to buy good grapes on the market. With Chardonnay, on the other hand, they rely more on buying in grapes due to the high quality available on the market. Well-known names such as Hyde and Hudson are among the grape suppliers.
Organic methods are used in the vineyard and as little intervention as possible is attempted in the cellar. The basis is formed by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Wester Reach, which are a blend of different sites and are intended to represent both the appellation and the DuMol style. All other wines are bottled single-vineyard and are intended to reflect these 100%.
The Estate Vineyard is particularly close to Andy Smith's heart, as he planted it himself in 2005. Compared to the usual 3,000 vines per hectare, he has planted it extremely densely with 9,000 vines per hectare.
