2021 Brane Cantenac Blanc
Soft edges of rosebud, cut grass and white flowers, this is good quality with concentrated citrus, straw and white pepper spice. Has structure and impact, and unusually for white Médocs could do with a few years ageing. Brane Cantenac is an estate that is known for its precision work with oak barels during ageing (using both 225l and larger demi-muids), so no surprise perhaps that their white is a little marked by oak at this early stage, but it has huge potential and is easy to recommend. 3.2ha of white vines.
94/100 Jane Anson
The 2021 Brane-Cantenac blanc, a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, comes bounding out of the glass with notes of white peaches, pink grapefruit, and pineapple plus hints of lime blossoms and oyster shells. Light-bodied, the palate is crisp and pristine with a fantastic intensity of citrus and chalky layers, finishing long and zesty. pH 3.1.
