Climbs through the palate with lemongrass, slate, orange zest, fine tannins and a juicy signoff. Enjoyable, still signposting the fresh acidities of the year, but with depth to the flavour, and it sits within the estate signature. One to recommend. „Helles, aber nicht sehr dichtes Purpurrot. Interessante, mineralische Nase. Bereits rund und entschlossen - gefährlich entwickelt oder einfach nur Spaß beim Trinken? Nicht einer der konzentriertesten 2020er St-Émilions, aber sehr gut integriert und ausgewogen. Üppige Frucht und kein offensichtliches Übermaß an Alkohol, Tannin oder Säure. Allerdings verbirgt sich unter dieser trügerisch einladenden Frucht eine Menge Tannin... Ein Hauch von Marmite/Hefe-Extrakt im beeindruckend langen Abgang. “Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Fonplegade opens with a very savory nose of smoked meats, tapenade, sautéed herbs and beef drippings over a core of plum preserves, chocolate-covered cherries and cedar chest plus wafts of violets and cigars. “The Adams family, Americans, have done a magnificent job with this famous property on the south side of St.-Emilion. Now farmed organically, this wine exhibits an inky purple color, a gorgeous nose of blackberry and cassis fruit, sweet cherries, licorice and spice. It is full-bodied, ripe, opulent, pure and a great success in this vintage. The wine should drink well for 15 or more years.” – Wine Advocate
