Plum in colour, iris and violet aromatics, crushed rose petals, vibrant character on the opening that softens to creamy blueberry and raspberry fruits, cappuccino and gunsmoke, fennel and sage spices, this is a delicious wine that is among the standouts of the vintage in the appellation. Tight tannins on the finish, sinewy and full of character. Biodynamic. A testament to the impressive investment and vision undertaken by late owner Stephen Adams. 50% new barrels for ageing.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Fonplegade starts off a bit closed, with notes of tar and wild strawberries leading to emerging scents of cedar, sassafras, black pepper, and black raspberries. The medium-bodied palate has a chewiness coming through from the oak but is otherwise soft and graceful, finishing on an earthy note. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
