The 2021 Le Chevalier de Sterimberg, 100% Marsanne, swans out of the glass with graceful notes of lemongrass, Golden Delicious apples, and honeysuckle, followed by notes of crushed rocks and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is delicately styled and refreshing, with loads of chalky nuances and a lively lift to the finish.

Hermitage Le Chevalier de Sterimberg 2021 (Hermitage; 100% Marsanne; 14% alcohol; certified organic). Crystalline, pure, nutty, fresh and with plenty of crushed stone mineral character. A slight white florality – lily of the valley perhaps. Hyper-vertical with loads of lift, the freshness reinforced by the salinity. Sapid. Racy. Crisp. Rich but carried by the impressive vein of acidity.

A white wine with distinction, complexity and a sense of place, this is absolutely one to look out for. The honeysuckle and white peach flavours steal up on you, building slowly but surely towards an outburst of lemon zest, pear and liqourice. Plenty of ageing ability on display.
