This is a vintage that shows the successful evolution in this wine, with generous brambled raspberry, pomegranate, rosemary, underbrush, olive, anis, cocoa and grilled rosemary. There is intensity to the flavours, plenty of Tuscan sunshine, with excellent integration of the tannins, and a bounce of fresh acidities. Jerome Poisson as winemaker, AJ Domaines owner. Spicy and quite saline. You really notice the Sangiovese here (even at 10 per cent). Baked and fresh plums, damsons, a little cherry and perhaps loganberry too. There’s an impressive degree of fruit complexity. Limpid and sapid in the mouth. Fluid and dynamic, with slightly prickly tannins on the finish, but they just need time. Well-made and impressively chiselled and structured. Substantial. Imposing. Quite a proposition and I think the strongest Caiarossa I have yet tasted!
