2020 Brane Cantenac Blanc
Plenty of personality, touches of juicy white pear and grapefruit, with honeysuckle and saffron adding an edge of bitterness through the finish. Good quality, from clay-dominant plot just next to Brane Cantenac in AOC Haut Medoc (bottled as the rules require as AOC Bordeaux Blanc). Aged in large sized 500l oak casks and barrels, 30% new oak, with lees stirring. The barrels are washed with water first to take out the dominant taste of new oak, Diam cork closure.
92/1000 Jane Anson
The 2020 Brane-Cantenac Blanc is made from 74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Semillon. It races out with vivacious notes of fresh grapefruit, white peaches, and lime blossom with hints of lemon curd and baking bread with a waft of wet pebbles. Medium-bodied, the palate is super intense with an electric backbone and long, mineral-laced finish. It is delicious now but should easily cellar for 5-6+ years.
