1999 TBA No. 2 Traminer
The tangy apple-scented 1999 #2 Traminer Nouvelle Vague Trockenbeerenauslese is a viscous, well-focused wine. A myriad of spices can be found intermingled with sour berries, apricots, and peaches in this medium to full-bodied, rich offering. It is concentrated, intense, and boisterous. Drink it over the next 20-25 years.
93/100 The Wine Advocate / Pierre Rovani
Deep nose of black tea, quince paste and caramel. Firm and powerful with intense dried porcini mushrooms and molasses character. Dense, almost dry finish that’s totally fascinating. A library release at 25 years of age. Drink or hold.

The amber-colored 1999 Trockenbeerenauslese No 2 Traminer Nouvelle Vague (Library Release 2024) opens with an intense bouquet of porcini, malt, orange, dark (cane) sugar, molasses and candied apricot as well as peanut, rose petal and orange aromas. The wine is savory and rich on the very intense and fresh, elegant and refined, stimulating and bitter palate that reveals a serious tannin structure and a rather dry, spicy taste. This is a gorgeous wine to have with a cigar or matured hard cheese but also with nougat and cinnamon dishes. Fabulous. 13.5% stated alcohol with 136 grams per liter of residual sugar. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2024.
